Kelley Etherington, Hazardous Materials Specialist, University California Berkeley

Kelley Etherington has been working in the environmental field for 20 years. Her work at UC Berkeley involves hazardous materials reporting and compliance, hazardous waste management and medical waste management. Prior to working for UCB, Ms. Etherington worked for the City of San Francisco's Household Hazardous Waste Program and as a CUPA Inspector for Santa Clara County's Environmental Health Department

Tod Ferguson, Hazardous Materials Business Plan Manager, UCSD

Tod Ferguson has been with UCSD for 17 years. His job title is UCSD's Hazardous Materials Business Plan Manager. He has a MS in Homeland Security and a BS in Business Management. He is a certified Radiation Protection Technologist and has a certificate in Hazardous Materials Management. He is also a certified instructor with the California Specialized Training Inst. His responsibilities include permitting hazardous materials activities with the primary responsibility of developing hazardous materials contingency plans.

Ryan Flaherty - Higher Education Account Manager from Triumvirate Environmental

Mr. Flaherty is a higher education account manager based out of the New York Office for Triumvirate Environmental. Mr. Flaherty joined Triumvirate in 2005 as a chemist, and rose rapidly to his current position. On a daily basis, Mr. Flaherty is engaged with some of the largest institutes of higher education in the New York area, including the CUNY system, NYU, St. John's University, and the. Mr. Flaherty is responsible for ensuring the continued development of EH&S programs at our clients and providing oversight of the daily chemist activities. Mr. Flaherty holds a bachelor of science from the Massachusetts Maritime Academy in marine safety and environmental protection.

Philip J. Kruse, Hazardous Chemical waste operations supervisor for UC Berkeley, has almost 20 years of experience managing hazardous waste in the public and private sectors. His experience includes site remediation, facility decontamination, emergency response and all aspects of hazardous chemical waste disposal for higher educational institutions.

Sande Pence, REHS, Supervising Environmental Health Specialist, County of San Diego, Department of Environmental Health, Hazardous Materials Division. Pence has worked for County government implementing hazardous materials programs since 1992 and is currently responsible for supervising staff that conduct hazardous waste generator, business emergency plan, underground storage tank and medical waste inspections. She has over 12 years of regulatory inspection experience and is a certified California Underground Storage Tank Inspector. Her experience also includes hazardous materials emergency response and over 4 years coordinating hazardous materials training programs and training new inspection staff. Over the past few months she has been supervising inspection staff in the east county region.
